| 授業概要 | This advanced elementary English course will introduce to practical English necessary to survive in a foreign country. The situational dialogues may include ordering in restaurants making reservations and discussing travel plans or discussing places the students have been to or would like to visit. Discussions， presentations and oral interpretations based on videos or assigned readings may be dealt with in class. Mini lectures and note taking may also be included in the class work. In most cases， the same teacher will teach EIC 103 and 104. This will allow assignments to be carried over to from one class to the other. Some classes will have different teachers for each class and they may be taught as separate classes with some coordination to prevent duplication of work. |

| 授業概要 | 文章表現には、さまざまなジャンルがある。 感想文、日記、エッセイ、論文、批評文、ルポルタージュ、人物論、紀行文、インタビュー、対談や座談会のまとめ・・・など。小説、詩などの文学表現は別として、これらのジャンルにそれぞれ必要な基礎知識を学びつつ、実際に表現し分けることに習熟したい。文章演習AからDまで、これまで学んだことを踏まえつつ、一層高度な表現力を体得することを目指す。同時に就職試験などで課される「標題作文」に対応すべき具体的なポイント、テクニックを考えたい。 |

| メッセージ | 文章を書くことが好きになると、かならず上達します。読むことが好きになると、かならず文章は上達します。ふだんから、自分が考えたり感じたりしたことを、どうあらわせば他の人に理解されるだろうか-と頭の中で整理する習慣を身につけること。文章は、誰か相手の人に読んで、分ってもらわなければなりません。それが第一の条件です。 受講の際には、二百詰原稿用紙を用意して下さい。まずはワープロやパソコンではなく、自分の手で、字で書くことに馴れましょう。 「就職作文」のためには、なにかひとつ、余人の及ばない自分の「ホームグラウンド」を平生から確保しておきましょう。どんなテーマが出ても、それを自分のホームグラウンドへ引き込むステップが考えつきさえすれば、ありきたりの発想ではない作品が生まれます。あとは講義の中で・・・ |

| 授業概要 | この授業は、英語検定試験2級以上の英語力がある学生を対象とします。日本でも国際会議の機会が増え、英語で会議を運営できる人材、プロの会議通訳者の育成は日本の国際化のために重要な課題です。地域社会においても、国際交流、海外からの教員の受け入れの増大、個人的な仕事や留学などのつながりで、世界中から訪問者を迎える時代になりました。その際、英語が共通の言語としてコミュニケーションをはかるための役割を担うことが多いと言われます。現実に、日本語を話さない訪問者たちの多くは、英語を通して色々な情報を得て日本で生活をすることができます。例えば、2002年のワールドカップの選手たちのアテンドや案内などのボランティア通訳もほとんどが英語によるものでした。この授業では、日本語と英語のプロの通訳者を目指したい人から、自分の英語力を高めたい人まで、通訳訓練をうけながら、英語を使って仕事をする体験学習をしていきたいと思います。主としてシャドウイング訓練をしながら、基礎的な通訳の仕方を学びます。耳から入ってくる情報を瞬時に置き換えることができるようになると、あとは自分の英語力を磨くことにより、仕事の可能性は無限大に広がります。学期のおわりには、少なくともボランティア通訳検定試験AまたはB級（1996年より実施）に合格することが目標です。 |

| 授業計画 | The course is activity oriented. It uses pre-made sketches for the students to learn key language structures that are necessary to communicate in English. Students will start by reviewing and mastering the basic elements of English communication. They will go on to study about the various rules of speechmaking. | 授業概要 | English for International Communication 203 is intended to be courses through which students can gain skill in practical English use. The courses will use a theme of Japanese students and others traveling internationally to help students prepare to communicate in real situations in real places. We’ll be using a fast-paced and fun textbook both in and outside of class to help students prepare for this international communication. Assignments will include preparation of an individual international travel plan and a group travel plan， with a presentation of the group travel plan to be given in class. Work assigned outside of the class will not only help students prepare for the next class， but will help them prepare for their own communication needs when they go overseas or interact with international visitors in Japan. |
