授業概要 This course is about learning and discussing current issues of global interest. The language components of the course are speaking， reading and writing. The course is designed to help students learn how to formulate and convey their personal views on key international issues.
授業計画 There is no textbook for this course. The course is both activity-oriented and student-centered. Likewise， online activities and individual creativity are vital to this course. Topics are selected in collaboration with students in order to better shape both their language needs and their academic interest.
評価方法 Attendance is very important and the course involves a considerable amount of out-of-class work. Grading is based on 1) attendance (10%)， 2) weekly assignments (20%)， 3) in-classroom activities (20%) and 4) individual projects (50%).

授業概要 This course is about giving presentation. It is designed to help students plan， write and deliver in-class presentations. Topics are carefully selected to generate debate and facilitate group discussions. At the end of the course， students should be able to make presentations on any issue with logic and ease.
授業計画 The course has no textbooks. The instructor provides materials for class activities. The course uses a step-by-step method. Group work is important. Students will often team up in small groups for presentation purposes. Classes will often end with short (3-5 min) presentations by selected students.
評価方法 Attendance is important. Students are expected to spend up to one hour for weekly assignments. Grading is based on attendance (10%)， in-class activities (20%)， weekly assignments (20%) and final presentation (50%).

授業概要 This class is for students to practice their speaking and listening skills as much as possible. Students start by listening to everyday conversations so as to build vocabulary. This is followed by pair and group speaking activities. Students will spend at least half of each lesson practicing speaking. This is a practical speaking and listening class for students who hope to use their speaking skills in simple work situations or when they travel overseas.

授業概要 This is a multimedia elective course designed to improve your English using computers. The course will focus on reading and researching websites on the Internet. You will learn how to use search engines to get information from the Internet. Students access websites such as BBC World from the UK and PBS public television from the US where they will choose topics to study. Students will read articles on these websites and also listen to the audio streaming of news and features.
You will also practice writing e-mail messages to report on your Googling to the teacher. Students must listen to and follow instructions from the teacher， so this is good listening practice.

The focus is on speaking about important issues， especially about culture and cultural differences. This part of the class will be useful for students planning an overseas study program as you will practice explaining about Japanese culture and society. There will be pair or group speaking activities in every class. Sometimes students will prepare surveys to find out the opinions of their group or the whole class. There will be realistic， advanced level listening activities in this class which will be followed by discussion.
