授業概要 |
This class will focus on the English that people use in everyday situations, helping the students to confidently communicate with the international community on a personal and natural level. This is not a “slang” or “street English” class, but a class designed to help students understand what English speakers are saying when they are not using “textbook English” and to practise this language in simple “everyday” situations. There will be some grammar and vocabulary development, with the emphasis on achieving the goals of the class not just to complete exercises or pass tests. |
授業計画 |
There is no set textbook, however we will use a variety of materials taken from textbooks and other sources, all of which will be provided, keeping the focus on learning how to take an active role in everyday situations, and minimizing the use of textbook exercises which are not helpful for achieving the goals of the class. We will spend a lot of time role-playing situations as diverse as deciding what to watch on TV to discussing who should be the next Prime Minister of Japan. |
評価方法 |
Students will be evaluated based on attendance, and participation in class. There will be a few assignments which must be completed to the required standard, and there must be evidence that the student is becoming more comfortable using the language studied in the class as the course progresses. |
