授業概要 This advanced elementary course will introduce the students to practical English necessary to survive in a foreign country. The situational dialogues may include ordering in restaurants, making reservations and discussing travel plans or discussing places the students have been to or would like to visit. Discussions, presentations and oral interpretations based on a variety of readings or videos on practical issues will be dealt with in class. Mini-lectures and note taking may be a part of the course.
授業計画 This course is designed to build confidence in speaking. Students prepare by doing vocabulary building and listening activities for homework. A self-study CD is included in the textbook for this purpose. Class time can then be used entirely for pair and group speaking activities. Students will practice model conversations then make their own conversations based on the model. Conversation topics include social conversations, talking about past experiences, talking about travel, expressing opinions and talking about culture.
評価方法 Points will be given for class participation, homework assignments, attendance and in-class tests.
