授業概要	This elementary English class will focus on academic situations and the vocabulary necessary to talk about school life. Situational dialogues may include talking about cafeteria menus elective and required courses among other campus life themes. Critical thinking skills and ideas of debate and discussion may be introduced. Most of these classes will be taught by the same teacher who teaches the same section for EIC 101. This will allow the teacher to make assignments or projects that may use several classes of both EIC 101 and EIC 102. Some EIC 101 and EIC 102 classes may be taught by different teachers. In this situation the， the class work and home work may be completely separate from the class taught by the other teacher.

授業概要	This is a multimedia elective course designed to improve your English using computers. The course will focus on reading internet websites， organizing information and writing summaries.
授業計画	Students will start by accessing websites such as BBC World from the UK and PBS public television from the US where they will choose topics to study. Students will read articles on these websites and also listen to the audio streaming of news and features. Later in the course， students will use search engines to access websites of their choice in English. We spend a lot of class time googling. Students will paraphrase， organize information and summarize articles into short reports.
評価方法	Grading is based on attendance (50%)， short written reports (20%) and one research article (30%).

スポーツ健康実習B（バレー）

授業概要	バレーボールの技術習得を主に多様なルールを設定したミニゲームを実践していく中で目指す。授業では、主にバレーボール競技における技術の「習得」、チームメイトとの技術の「繋ぎ」、そしてレベルに合わせたオリジナルルールや企画の「考案」を楽しんでいくことを目的とする。よって本授業では一貫してバレーボールを通じた「モノ・コト・ヒト・チーム」創りがメインになる。スポーツを通じて「楽しく、元気に、笑える」空間を仲間と共に自力で、そして自由な発想で「創り」上げていきましょう。
授業計画	オリエンテーション。グループ分け課題練習・ゲーム演習 ※ここではひとつ習得学習として提示された技術・戦術を各グループでオリジナルの練習方法を駆使して体得する。【予定】 1．パス（オーバー・アンダー） 2．スパイク 3．オフェンスコンビネーション 4．ブロック 5．サーブグループ対抗バレーボールリーグの企画と開催 ※期全体を通して、随時課題を設定する中でグループ練習とゲームを行う。
評価方法	無遅刻、無欠席で一定の水準に達したものを80点（A）とし、以下のように採点する。1）授業態度（授業への積極的な取り組みを評価）・・・40点2）技術（各種目の理解度を、学期を通じ各自の達成度別に評価する）・・・40点3）知識（授業記録や期末レポートなど）・・・20点4）欠席、遅刻の減点は、欠席：－5、－10、－20、不可。遅刻：－3、－6、－12、－24、不可。

メッセージ	初回の授業では、ジャージ等を着用し指定場所へ集合。レベルや状況によってソフトバレーボールやビーチバレーボール、9人制、6人制、4人制、2人制等も取り込んでいく。このクラスにしかできないオリジナルな授業になれることを期待します。その他、履修に関しては、「体育科目の履修」 (『履修のてびき』記載)を参照すること。

国際平和と国際協力

授業概要	戦争（紛争）、国際テロ、開発、貧困、人口、難民、環境、教育、HIV/AIDSやマラリヤのような生命を脅かす疾病等々、世界の平和と安全を脅かし、人間らしい生活を妨げる問題と脅威は限りなく存在し、また次々と発生する。これらの諸問題に国際社会はどのように対応し、また日本はどのような貢献をなすべきか。国際社会と日本という二つの社会の関係をにらみながら、現代の世界に共通の諸問題の基礎的理解を目指す。
授業計画	上記に掲げた現代の最重要問題に国際社会が一丸となって取り組んでいる。特に貧困は諸問題の解決のためには欠かせないカギであり、そのために国連すなわち国際社会は、「ミレニアム開発計画」（2000年9月の国連におけるミレニアム・サミットで採択）を策定し、先進国と開発途上国が一体となった協力を推進するよう努めている。このミレニアム開発目標は「2015年までに世界の貧困を半減する」ことを目指しているが、後10年という時間との競争に向けて今年9月国連本部で世界サミットも行われる。こうした世界情勢をにらみながら、貧困撲滅を通した国際平和と国際協力の実態に迫る。なお授業では、講義のみならず、受講生すべてに課題を課し、全員参加型の発表、討論も重視した形で行う。
評価方法	与えられた課題に対する準備と発表並びに日常的なテストの総合評価。出席も重視する。

メッセージ	国際社会との交流ならびに国際社会での活動において英語力は不可欠。何はともあれ、英語による情報収集（知識の吸収）、コミュニケーションの能力をつける機会は国際学部学生の最大の特権と考えて、英語力の習得に励んでほしい。
