授業概要 This intermediate English course will introduce the students the vocabulary and speaking skills needed to speak on variety of global issues. The main thrust of this course will be human rights and how globalization may be promoting or hindering their development. The class may use videos or DVD’s to show various human rights violation that will create discussion and, hopefully, debate. Students will have chances to write to and request information from various international NGO’s (non-governmental organizations, e.g., Amnesty International, American Civil Liberty Union) and learn about various localized human rights issues. Student may expect to give speeches, work in groups or in pairs and use English at all times in the classroom.
授業計画 Class will be conducted in English, but students should bring electric dictionaries to class to help them understand new vocabulary better. The teacher will develop his own materials from newspapers and videos.

評価方法 Grading will be based on the student’s attendance and the attitude shown by the timely completion of all homework and class work and the student’s desire to use English only for all communication in the classroom (50%). Class presentations, speeches, dramatizations or other special projects (50%).
