| 授業概要 | This course is an introductory English conversation course. The students will be introduced to general ideas of daily English conversation. The class will stress development of skills necessary to function in English in situations like making appointments and reservations， as well as discussing such common topics as sports and hobbies. In addition， we will lay the foundation for more advanced discussions on international issues by building vocabulary. Although the main aim is to improve conversational skills， reading and writing will also be taught. |
| 授業計画 | The class will focus on removing ‘the barriers of shyness and timidity’ and gaining confidence in speaking English. Topics in the textbook range from personal matters like family and hobbies to typical Japanese culture. After listening to various dialogues on a topic and having enough time to shape up their own ideas， students are given many chances to talk about the topic individually， in pairs and groups. Sometimes they are also requested to do some writing activities. |
| 評価方法 | Grading will be based on attendance， participation in class activities， tests， homework， and a final project. |
