| 授業概要 | This course is an introductory English conversation course. The students will be introduced to general ideas of daily English conversation. The class will stres development of skills necessary to function in English in situations like making appointments and reservations, as well as discussing such common topics as sports and hobbies. In addition, we will lay the foundation for more advanced discussions on international issues by building vocabulary. Although the main aim is to improve conversational skills, reading and writing will also be taught. |
| 授業計画 | This is a fun class that builds on students’ confidence levels, so that English can be enjoyed as well as appreciated as an important “tool”. The goal of the class is to simulate real life situations, so that natural and spontaneous language is practised, which can be appropriately applied to international situations outside the classroom. Students are expected to develope independent learning skills, and to be able to participate in groups and in pairs in order to maximinze the time in class “using”English. The focus will be on conversation skills, including pronunciation practice, listening and vocabulary building and there will also be some writing and reading tasks. |
| 評価方法 | Students will be graded each lesson. Non-submission of homework and other assignments will result in a poor grade for that class. In addition, there will be small tests during the semester and students will prepare an original conversation to present to the class at the end of the semester. |

| メッセージ | Perhaps this class will be very different from the English classes you attended in high school! In this class, it is wonderful if you ask many questions, and never worry if you make mistakes. To learn English you have to “use” English, so it is important to try hard, not use Japanese in our conversation practise and always participate in all the activities with a positive attitude.Always bring a good dictionary, notebook, highlighter pen and your sense of humour. |
