授業概要 | This will be a multi-skill course in which students will be required to read, write, discuss, and make speeches as well as to develop critical thinking skills. Students may expect to work in pairs, do group projects and make presentations and academic writing Skills to be taught will be:Writing, Grammar,Reading,Discussion techniques (how to lead discussions and inquire about topics),Presentation and speech making,Critical thinking,Intercultural communication problems |
授業計画 | Lesson One: Self-introductions and short conversations designed to have students make friends and so that they will work together better in groups and as a class. A reading topic will be given for homework. Lesson Two: The homework will be read and discussed in groups. Students will learn to ask questions correct discussion English technique. Individuals will be assigned short speeches for next lesson. Lesson Three: Each student will make his/her short speech and the other students will use listening sheets and make questions (all in English). Lesson Four: In groups students will review each other’s written speeches and make corrections and exchange information about the vocabulary and discuss each others point of view. Lesson Five: The students will design a project that will give each member of their group a chance to speak 2-3 minuets on one topic. They will mind-map the topic and divide the topic into equal shares of research and speech making. Each person will have to write on his/her topic as well as deliver it. Both the written report and the speech will be graded. Lesson Six: The students will review their topics and practice among themselves with the teacher coaching them. Lesson Seven: The students will begin to make their presentations: Lesson Eight: Presentations should be finished this week and vocabulary used in the presentations will be handed out. Lesson Nine: Students will review their presentations and ways to improve. They will also so start to plan their own presentation about an international issue or problem. Lesson Ten: Students will discuss their own ideas in their groups and/or practice them with their group. Lesson Eleven: Individual presentations will begin. Lesson Twelve: Personal presentations will be given with questions asked after each one. Lesson thirteen: personal presentations continues and oral exam in class. ※学期授業予定回数と必ず一致するものではありません。 |
評価方法 | The students will be graded on attendance (10%), their class work and attitude they show toward their class work (30%) as well as the evaluation of their presentations and formal dialogue skits performed in class (40%) and classes quizzes and final oral evaluation(20%). |
