| 授業概要 | Various issues in Buddhist and comparative (East-West) philosophy will be studied, according to the interests of the students. Each year we focus on a different issue. In 2002 – 2003 we studied ecophilosophy. In 2001 – 2002 we discussed death from various philosophical and cultural perspectives. This year we will study transpersonal psychology, for at least one term. Students will research and present their own seminar papers to the group. Since the class will be conducted mostly in English, students must be able to understand and express themselves in English. But complete fluency is not required. This is not a language class! |
| 授業計画 | The schedule will vary according to the topics that we choose to study. We will begin by reading a book by Ken Wilber, which I will give to you. Don’t worry, we will read the Japanese translation! |
Students will be evaluated on their class participation and on their seminar paper. It is very important to attend all classes. |
