In this reading comprehension class you will increase your vocabulary and improve your ability to pick out information from written English texts.  The more you read\uff0c the more you understand good sentence structure. Your vocabulary will expand and this will improve your writing and your speaking skills. In this new textbook you will learn the vocabulary before reading which makes reading easier and more enjoyable.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th>\u6388\u696d\u8a08\u753b<\/th>\n<td>These are some of the topics in your book\uff0c followed by the skills you will learn.<br \/>An overseas student in America: Identifying topics and main ideas.<br \/>Color and fashion: Previewing and predicting.<br \/>The history of photography: Identifying main ideas and supporting ideas.<br \/>An old Chinese story: Using time order. Suffixes and prefixes.<br \/>The history of dance: Skimming and scanning for information.<br \/>Biographies: Fact or opinion.<br \/>Train travel: Making inferences\uff0c synonyms and antonyms.<br \/>Reading a story book &#8211; extended reading\uff0c telling a story.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th>\u8a55\u4fa1\u65b9\u6cd5<\/th>\n<td>50% for class participation. 20% for attendance.  30%  for a story book report.
