The main thrust of this course will be human rights and how globalization may be promoting or hindering their development. The class may use videos or DVD\u2019s to show various human rights violation that will create discussion and\uff0c hopefully\uff0c debate. Students will have chances to write to and request information from various international NGO\u2019s (non-governmental organizations\uff0c e.g.\uff0c Amnesty International\uff0c American Civil Liberty Union) and learn about various localized human rights issues. Student may expect to give speeches\uff0c work in groups or in pairs and use English at all times in the classroom.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th>\u6388\u696d\u8a08\u753b<\/th>\n<td>Class will be conducted in English\uff0c but students should bring electric dictionaries to class to help them understand new vocabulary better. The teacher will develop his own materials from newspapers and videos.<br \/> Students should expect to learn or develop several of the following skills:<br \/>Speech making<br \/>Persuasive Discussion<br \/>Presentations<br \/>Letter Writing<br \/>Dramatization of events<br \/>Critical Thinking<br \/>Cross-cultural values and issues<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th>\u8a55\u4fa1\u65b9\u6cd5<\/th>\n<td>Grading will be based on the student\u2019s attendance and the attitude shown by the timely completion of all homework and class work and the student\u2019s desire to use English only for all communication in the classroom (50%).
