Students watch short video clips from documentaries and look at the issues. In each video you will hear speakers express opposing sides of an issue.As follow-up\uff0c you can choose either to discuss the issue in groups or write your reaction in a journal and share your writing with a partner or group.In this class\uff0c students will do comprehension exercises based on listening to speakers in the video clip. Students will do background reading for homework.In this way you will  broaden your vocabulary\uff0c develop critical thinking skills and find out about issues which are topical in the U.S.\uff0c Europe and Japan.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th>\u6388\u696d\u8a08\u753b<\/th>\n<td>Juvenile crime and crimes against children.<br \/>Students will choose other topics such as:<br \/>The death penalty<br \/>Medical ethics<br \/>Nature conservation and endangered species<br \/>Cultural diversity and integration<br \/>Terrorists and how they think.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th>\u8a55\u4fa1\u65b9\u6cd5<\/th>\n<td>60% for class participation\uff0c 20% for attendance\uff0c 20% for a written test in which you write your ideas and opinions about the issues studied.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th>\u6559\u79d1\u66f8<\/th>\n<td><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th>\u53c2\u8003\u66f8<\/th>\n<td><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th>\u30e1\u30c3\u30bb\u30fc\u30b8<\/th>\n<td>We will learn about some interesting and important issues in this class. You need the commitment to doing the background reading and discussion preparation to make this class worthwhile for you.You need to be willing to speak in this class.
