As Profs. Loy and Watts are specialists in religion and social issues\uff0c the topic for both classes (Tuesday and Friday) is spirituality in daily life (\u65e5\u5e38\u7cbe\u795e\u7684\u306a\u751f\u6d3b). There will be three basic themes: everyday life\uff0c the environment\uff0c and society. Each theme will be related to the practice of \u201cmindfulness\u201d \uff3bbecoming aware of how our thoughts\uff0c words and actions have an affect\uff3d in our daily lives\uff0c our environment and our society. The readings will come from a variety of different sources. The articles will not be too academic\uff0c but rather more personal in style.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th>\u6388\u696d\u8a08\u753b<\/th>\n<td>This class is for high-intermediate and advanced level students of English. Classes with both teachers\uff0c Loy and Watts\uff0c will be coordinated. We will read one article for one week &#8211; in the two classes during that one week\uff0c the first class will focus on basic comprehension of the article and any technical language questions; the second class will discuss the content and meaning of the article. Homework will be to read the article and be ready to answer the study questions. There will be three unit tests which correspond to the three topics of daily life\uff0c environment\uff0c and society. No final exam.
