However\uff0c sometimes it is hard to act kindly towards the environment if the social system doesn\u2019t support us\uff0dfor example\uff0c if there is no space on the road to ride your bicycle\uff0c or even though we recycle\uff0c the TV tells us to shop more and more. In this way we need to look at the larger system of our society and to create a new design which will support our individual efforts to save the environment. This class will spend time looking at our current social design and alternatives to make a better design for the environment\uff0dfor example\uff0c how can our society better support the use of clean energy in office buildings and factories? This class will also look at \u201cmental environment\u201d as an important aspect of physical environment\uff0dfor example do our cities have a natural physical ambience which refreshes us mentally or makes us nervous and distracted?<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th>\u6388\u696d\u8a08\u753b<\/th>\n<td>This class will focus on intermediate and advanced level students of English. Mr. Watts\u2019 half of the class on Tuesday will not be coordinated with the Friday class\uff0dit will have a separate theme and content. We will learn through reading articles and watching videos. We will also learn how to express opinions and study vocabulary related to the class topics. Class participation will be a very important part of the grading. Homework will involve writing thoughts and opinions on the class reading or videos. There will be no written tests or final exam. Instead\uff0c there will be a group project on social design at the end of the course.
