Furthermore\uff0c many young people are no longer interested in thetraditional \u201csalary man\u201d and \u201cocha-kumi\u201d jobs. More and more young educatedpeople want to find new and more exciting kinds of work. Jobs in the area ofinternational cooperation and development are becoming more popular. Such jobscover a wide range of work\uff0c for example: Japanese language teaching abroad\uff0c the variety of work in United Nations\u2019 organizations\uff0c and different forms ofcooperation and development work in non-profit and non-governmentalorganizations (NGOs). However\uff0c in order to get these jobs\uff0c young people must 1) become more aware of the new trends in global thinking and 2) develop theircommunication skills for becoming active in these trends.<br \/>This course will introduce students to the basic issues of the internationalsystem (e.g. globalization\uff0c free trade\uff0c East vs. West\/North vs. South\uff0c\u201cpoverty\u201d and \u201caid\u201d\uff0c human rights\uff0c gender\uff0c environmental issues\uff0c etc.). It willalso introduce students to a number of new trends in these areas (e.g. neweconomics\uff0c voluntary simplicity\uff0c socially active Buddhism\uff0c deep ecology\uff0c etc).The course will help students develop some of the important communicationskills needed for becoming active in these trends. Finally\uff0c the course hopes to help students to develop a clearer vision for choosing their \u201czemi\u201d for their final two years at Bunkyo.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th>\u6388\u696d\u8a08\u753b<\/th>\n<td>Classes will use lectures\uff0c videos\uff0c reading and student discussion. In the first half of the course\uff0c students will learn 1) about the basic issues of globalization\uff0c and 2) how to create and express feelings\uff0c opinions\uff0c agreement and disagreement on these issues. Students will write short opinion pieces on these issues as homework and then express them orally in class discussion. In the second half of the course\uff0c students will learn 1) about a variety of new trends in these areas and 2) how to give a professional oral presentation in English. Students will choose a topic from these new trends for this oral presentation. This oral presentation will develop step by step\uff0c from researching to writing to presenting the report as a speech.
