This revolution has been very important to regular people not working in the government or in big business. Many regular people have become concerned about the environment\uff0c human rights\uff0c war and peace\uff0c women\u2019s issues\uff0c etc. Nowadays on the Internet we can learn so much about all these various different people\u2019s groups which are connecting the local to the global. In this class\uff0c we will use our computers and develop our skills to learn more about all these different groups. The class will cover 3-4 basic units around different kinds of people\u2019s groups\uff0c like environment\uff0c human rights\uff0c women\u2019s issues\uff0c etc. Students will generally have the freedom to follow their own interests and to study about the groups they think are most interesting. Students will learn how to conduct research on the Internet. There will be a significant amount of reading in this course. During the first few weeks\uff0c this will be difficult. However\uff0c as students get used to reading more and more\uff0c their vocabulary develops quickly. By the end of the course\uff0c they can experience a great improvement in their ability to read and in the amount of time it takes to read articles. There will be no standard written tests; instead detailed written reports in English based on the student\u2019s research at the end of each unit will be required. We will try to enjoy ourselves and have a relaxed atmosphere while we work hard to understand some important and complex ideas about the world.
