Each year we focus on a different issue.  Last year (2001 &#8211; 2002) we discussed death from various philosophical and cultural perspectives.   This year we will study the ecological crisis for at least one term.<br \/>Students will research and present their own seminar papers to the group.<br \/>Since the class will be conducted mostly in English\uff0c students must be able to understand and express themselves in English.  But complete fluency is not required.  This is not a language class!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th>\u6388\u696d\u8a08\u753b<\/th>\n<td>The schedule will vary according to the topics that we choose to study.  We will begin by reading Alan Drengson &#038; Yuichi Inoue\uff0c The Deep Ecology Movement   (North Atlantic 1995).  Don\u2019t worry\uff0c we will read the Japanese translation!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th>\u8a55\u4fa1\u65b9\u6cd5<\/th>\n<td>Students will be evaluated on their class participation and on their seminar paper.
