授業概要 Students often neglect reading in favour of speaking and listening. However, the best way to increase your vocabulary and learn good sentence structure is by reading. The more you read, the better your speaking and writing skills will become. In this class, students will read short passages, do comprehension, information organizing and vocabulary exercises and then write their reaction to the reading.Students will learn reading skills such as scanning and interpreting meaning from context.This is a course for intermediate students. Most of your points are for class work so regular attendance is essential.
授業計画 Reading passages range from exerpts from books and magazines to
interviews.
The topics may include:
About the Brain – memory, left/right brain.
Animals – animal behaviour, the anti-fur movement.
You are What you Eat – GM food, natural medicines.
Socially Conscious Companies – recycling and nature preservation at
Patagonia, giving profits to charity at Ben and Jerry’s.
Television – love it or leave it.
評価方法 50% for class work, 20% for attendance and 30% for written tests.
