| 授業概要 | This class will focus on various American social issues， such as gun control， the environment， drugs， multi-culturalism， heroes， etc. As a class， we will decide three topics to look at over the semester. For each topic， we will look at both sides of an issue， and form our own personal opinions about it. We will also try to think about how the issue relates to Japanese society and culture. It will be very important during class to think carefully and to speak your opinion openly. |
| 授業計画 | The class will focus on reading and speaking. We will also do various sorts of grammar and vocabulary activities. Homework will be to read the article and be ready to answer the study questions. There will be three short written tests at the end of each section. No final exam. For students who need to improve their vocabulary and reading abilities， especially in preparation for the TOEFL， this class will be ideal. |
