授業概要 In Speaking C, students will build on what they learned in their first year in college. We will review and practice English fundamentals in situations designed to be as realistic as possible. In addition, students will learn about cultural differences that may cause misunderstanding. Students will learn to use English with foreigners in a variety of situations, including business, travel, and personal interactions.
授業計画 Introducing yourself; talking about yourself; exchanging personal information; remembering your childhood; asking about someone’s childhood. Past tense; used to.
Stating your opinion in small groups.
Talking about transportation and transportation problems; evaluating city services; asking for and giving information. Adverbs of quantity with countable and uncountable nouns: too many, too much, not enough, more, fewer, less; indirect questions.
Supporting your ideas with explanation.
Describing positive and negative features; making comparisons; talking about lifestyle changes; expressing wishes. Evaluations and comparisons with adjectives: not…enough, too, not as … as, as … as; evaluations and comparisons with nouns; not enough; as many … as; wish.
Brainstorming for new ideas and organizing them.
Talking about food; expressing likes and dislikes; describing a favorite snack; giving instructions. Simple past and present perfect tenses; sequence adjectives.
Making short presentations in from of larger groups.
評価方法 Assessment will be based on tests throughout the term as well as participation and performance in classroom activities. Good attendance is necessary for a good grade.
