| 授業概要 | In Japan today, it is harder to find the good jobs in traditionalcompanies. Furthermore, many young people are no longer interested in thetraditional “salary man” and “ocha-kumi” jobs. More and more young educatedpeople want to find new and more exciting kinds of work. Jobs in the area ofinternational cooperation and development are becoming more popular. Such jobscover a wide range of work, for example: Japanese language teaching abroad, the variety of work in United Nations’ organizations, and different forms ofcooperation and development work in non-profit and non-governmentalorganizations (NGOs). However, in order to get these jobs, young people must 1) become more aware of the new trends in global thinking and 2) develop theircommunication skills for becoming active in these trends. This course will introduce students to the basic issues of the internationalsystem (e.g. globalization, free trade, East vs. West/North vs. South,“poverty” and “aid”, human rights, gender, environmental issues, etc.). It willalso introduce students to a number of new trends in these areas (e.g. neweconomics, voluntary simplicity, socially active Buddhism, deep ecology, etc). The course will help students develop some of the important communicationskills needed for becoming active in these trends. Finally, the course hopes to help students to develop a clearer vision for choosing their “zemi” for their final two years at Bunkyo. |
