| 授業概要 | This course will introduce the students to the skills of formal debate and informal debate which characterizes much of the conversation of Westerners. debate skills will be thaught with the idea of making the students better speakers as well as critical thinkers. |
| 授業計画 | Lesson 1: Introduction to each other and the idea of debate and critical thinking Lesson 2: Basic ideas of debate and how it affects writing and discussion. Lesson 3: Critical thinking and looking at an issue from several points Lesson 4: First debate practice in small groups on selected topics Lesson 5: First debate Lesson 6: Continue or review of the debate and discussion Lesson 7: Short quiz or test over debate technique， style and vocabulary Lesson 8: selection of teams and topics for second formal debate Lesson 9: Reports and research on debate topic in groups Lesson 10: Continue practice Lesson 11: Formal debate by groups Lesson 12: Continue or review Lesson 13: New Topics and preparations for last debate Lesson 14: Last debates Lesson 15: Final test |
| 評価方法 | Students will be graded on their preperation for class (homework and reports) and their participation in class 40%. Debate exercises 30% quizes and 15% written tests or report and 15% final test. |
