授業概要 This advanced elementary course will introduce the students to more business oriented language like making appointments, rescheduling, promoting various products or services or services. Students will be encouraged to do debate like activities based on reading concerning controversial issues. Short essays and some creative writing may be incorporated as well. Most EIC 104 classes will be taught by the same teacher as the students have for EIC 103. This means that assignments could be covered in several class meetings of EIC 103 and EIC 104. However, there will be two separate grades given.

授業概要 個々のことばが表現という行為を通じて、一つの文学作品に結晶していく。その過程を、自ら作家活動をする者としての内省を含む分析を通じて把握し、人間にとって文学とは何か、ことばとは何かを探求する。また、世界無形文化遺産となった「能」に描かれた女性を手がかりにして、日本女性史(文学が女性をどう描いてきたか、その虚と実をはかる)を概観したい。女性史は、同時に「生命」(いのち)と「愛」の歴史でもある。男性にとっても無縁ではない。なお、「生命」(いのち)は、自然との共生によってつちかわれている。したがって、「人」(ひと)と自然の共生史という点にも、眼を向けることになろう。また、「能」を古典芸能として遠くにおしやるのではなく、室町時代の「現代劇」であったという一面も伝え、普遍的なるものへの”まなざし”を大切にしたい。

※流れのなかで、ビデオ・録音テープを利用することもある。また、現在の映像文化(絵画・写真・漫画を含む)は、いかに女性や生命(いのち)を描いているかについての分析的考察を、課題に課することもある。
評価方法 出欠票の代わりに、アンケート・質問に答える形でのミニレポートを実施し、その積みかさねを、定期試験と合わせて総合的に判断して評価する。やむをえず欠席した者は、自主レポートの提出が望ましい。また、テーマを深めるために小課題を課することがあるが、逐次、総合評価に組み込まれていくので、努力はむくわれることになる。

授業概要 ドイツ語Ⅰ、Ⅱで学んだことをふまえて、さらに総合的な習熟をめざします。併せて、せっかく身につけたドイツ語の力ですから、それを通じてドイツ語による文化的財産とも呼べるようなものに直に触れることも試みたいと思います。概要はそうなりますが、具体的にはどういう選択をしていくか、それは履修してくれる人たちの興味・関心に即応したかたちですすめたいと思っています。
授業計画 1)語学的な学力養成に重点をおいたドイツ語Ⅰ・Ⅱの補充を行います。
2)世界各国のことばに翻訳され紹介されている作品世界に、元々のドイツ語にたち帰って接近します。昨年は「ブレーメンの音楽隊」、一昨年は「赤ずきん」とたまたま続いて、グリム兄弟の古いテキストを中心において、絵本をよみくらべたり、多くの解釈次元を移動したりしながら、みんあんでたのしみました。グリム兄弟のメルヒェンは、一例です。
評価方法 出席とレポートで評価します。

メッセージ こんな話を読んだことがあります。九官鳥を飼っていた。三つくらいの日本語のコトバを身につけていた。或るとき、その九官鳥はとても怖い目に遭って、必死になって「おはよう!」「おはよう!」と窮状を訴えた(『じぶん、この不思議な存在』鷲田清一)というのです。何か啓発的な話だと思いませんか。ひょっとすると、外国語を学ぶことは、唯一、外からじぶんを見る機会である、のかもしれません。

授業概要 This class is for all students who are interested in overseas destinations for travel, work or study.. The goals of the course are to help students communicate effectively in English and deal with a wide variety of travel survival situations, while helping them to expand their vocabulary and improve their conversational skills, and listening ability. Students will have many opportunities to improve speaking strategies and general fluency in English through interactive group and pair work.
授業計画 The class will focus on oral productive skills and active listening activities which will help extend target language and develop basic listening strategies. Many travel tips in different situations such as studying abroad, homestay hints, hotel differences, shopping, tours, and dining will be discussed.

授業概要 This class is designed to enable the students to express their ideas in various settings with confidence. Students will learn to prepare and deliver speeches and give short presentations using visual aids.
授業計画 This class will cover different types of speeches such as: Persuasive; Demonstration; Lay out; Informative; Self-introduction and Introducing someone; Show and tell; Impromptu; Book and Movie Review. Students will frequently stand in front of the
class and give an oral presentation of an interesting topic helpful the future.
For good delivery, important aspects such as good eye contact, voice inflection, gestures (non Japanese), good posture and facial expressions will be discussed.
The class will learn how to make effective cue cards with delivery cues and visual aids.
Brainstorming and organizing the speech with the introduction, body, and conclusion using transitions and sequences will be taught and the students will give each type of speech in either small groups or to the whole class. The class will include Questions and Answers to the speaker along with peer evaluation.
評価方法 Grades on this course will be determined by the following criteria:Regular attendance 30%- If a student misses more than 3 of the classes, she will fail the course. Being more than five minutes late for the class three times will count as one absence. Being more than 20 minutes late is considered one absence.Participation and Attitude 60% The more you speak and are prepared, the better your grades. Mistakes are good. They show that you are trying.Final Presentation-10%- Each student will make a final presentation in front of the whole class.

メッセージ This class is opened to all level of students who want to become more confident in speaking in front of others in English. The more you stand in front of a group and speak, the better you become. You will be able to not only give speeches but also evaluate your peers and learn from others too. Public speaking is fun!
